 #EGMS 8th grade health is learning to apply stress management techniques to stay calm in advance of SBAC testing  next week!
 #EGMS In Mr. Ziff's 6th grade iLead class, students are working collaboratively on learning about and then teaching others how to deal with various challenging personality types and situations.

 #EGMS Sincere thanks and appreciate for a job well done by Abigail Abrham and Wesley Namnoun in the thrid quarter!  Abby and Wesley started off our school day everyday with the Pledge of Allegiance, the announcements of the day, and the celebrated historical figure for each day of the respective history months.   Nice job Abby and Wesley!
 #EGMS Please read the message below from Dr. Dale Bernardoni, CT Managing Director for "Fund For Teachers" concerning an award earned by Dr. Faulkner: It is our pleasure to inform you that Sarah Faulkner from your school has been selected to receive a fellowship from Fund for Teachers.  Sarah will be partnering with a teacher from Maine to travel to Iceland to explore melting glaciers, active tectonic plates, and bird and ocean life as it responds to climate change.   They will collect first-hand data, photographs and interviews to inspire students to understand and take action about climate change.  This is Sarah’s second Fund for Teachers grant having been previously awarded a fellowship in 2017.
 #EGMS EGMS Students during the lab blocks sometimes go to the library to think, build, and expand their critical thinking, creative thinking,  and collaboration.  It's great to see their minds work!
 #EGMS In Mrs. Corey's Family and Consumer Science (FACS) class, students demonstrated some of the 5 C's by collaborating and communicating with each other and with Mrs. Corey while learning the essential skills associated with designing and creating an apron.  One of our students, Pranitya, is highlighted in the pictures below!
 #EGMS In class with Senora Ash,  students created flashcards to study Spanish speaking countries and capitals.  Then they play a interactive slap card game to practice identifying the countries.

 #Seymour Celebrating Earth Day with Third Grade!
 #Seymour Fourth grade standards ask students to analyze how and why people migrate or immigrate. Fourth graders presented their research at a Wax Museum presentation.
 #Seymour Adithi Tallapaka presented her senior capstone project to grade four. Adithi taught the students about India and shared some of her immigration experience. 
 #Seymour 5S visited Starbase
 #Seymour Thanks to funding from our PTO, Seymour is participating in a five week hatch rental service. Students can do daily observations of the eggs and (hopefully) see the eggs hatch! This project is in support of our life science standards. 
 #Seymour 5E and 5K classes attended Starbase this week. Starbase is a week long field trip at the Windsor Locks Readiness Center. At Starbase, students dive into STEM activities and experiments. 
 #Seymour Grade 4 visited the CT Historical Society in support of their social studies unit about immigration/migration. 
 #EGHS EGHS students return from GREECE!  By all accounts, it was a fabulous experience for all.  Thanks to our students for being such great ambassadors of East Granby (says Mr. Dudack!) and to Mr. and Mrs. Dudack and Ms. Palmer for providing our students with this great opportunity!  See the East Granby facebook page for more photos.
 #EGHS From Friend to Friend Food Pantry:  Our gratitude to Varshny Sriganesh, a member of Powerofpeace.org , who made time during her April break to stop by and present a $1,000.00 donation to the Friend to Friend Food Pantry . Since 2013, Power of Peace (POP), a CT 501c(3), has been dedicated to promoting peace and improving the lives of socially and medically underprivileged children in their global family. We wish Varshny, a sophomore at East Granby High School , a fun and productive finish to the school year. Thank you for your dedication in service to our small town community and beyond!

 #EGHS Congratulations to Varshny Sriganesh! She is competing in FIRST Robotics District championship. She has been part of Robotics Team 3182 - Hartford - Athena's warriors for last 2 years The team has qualified for District championship.This is her second year competing at District Championship. They also won the prestigious "Team Spirit Award" at the Western New England University Qualifying Event, prior to the District Championship. If they win the district championship, they will qualify for worlds happening in Texas

 #EGHS Students in honors prob and stat explored the relationship between pull back distance and distance traveled of a toy car. They analyzed various regression equations to make predictions of a finish line.
 #EGHS The Adv Manufacturing 2 students built bases, soldered USB cables to LED light strips, edited images in software, and used the laser machine to create engraved edge lit acrylic signs.
