As one of the top racers of the 2024 season in the Tri-State U18+ Men’s rankings, he has qualified to represent the Tri-State Alpine Ski Team and will compete at the U.S. Ski & Snowboard Eastern U18+ Finals scheduled to be held this week at Gore Mountain in NY this week.

 #EGMS In Mrs. Corey's Family and Consumer Science (FACS) class,  the 7th graders are all remembering their sewing skills and cutting out their patterns.   Meanwhile, the 6th graders are learning them for the first time while making "ugly critters".
 #EGMS From Dr. Faulkner:  This is Henry, a newly hatched painted turtle.  He was found on the sidewalk in front of the school by a seventh grader. Henry is staying in Dr. Faulkner's room until it is warm enough to let him go into the school's pond, and in the meantime the 8th grade is studying him.  Some 8th graders wanted to name him Ross for Bob Ross, the painter -- pretty clever!  But no, his name is Henry.  He said so.

 #EGMS Students are now using their understanding of atmospheric conditions to create geographic information system (GIS) maps that support the argument that ocean currents drive extreme weather in the US.  They also made clouds prior to diving into tornadoes and hurricanes!

 #EGMS Students from the high school program at the Greater Hartford Academy of the Arts (GHAA) put on a show for the students of EGMS on Monday, March 11 by acting out skits pertaining to situations in the lives of tweens and teens that were unkind, unsafe, and irresponsible.    Our students were given the opportunity to ask questions of the actors who stayed in character while they answered the questions.

 #EGMS Students in Ms. Semyanko's Life Skills class worked on food art!  Check out some of the smiles and samples involved in this lesson.
 #EGMS In Mr. Berardy's makerspace, students used  critical thinking and collaboration skills while  playing the game of "Risk" and using K'nex kits.  The game looked pretty intense, and the K'Nex projects looked like a lot of fun to make. ike a lot of fun to make.
 #EGMS Some of our students at EGMS made a trip to EGPL to have some fun at the Dry Ice Workshop!  
 #EGMS In Mr. Tomala's Grade 6 Social Studies class, students created board games to create a fun and competitive way to learn about ancient and classic civilizations.  Students made game pieces,  boards, and most importantly, content questions for other students to demonstrate the knowledge they learned along the way!  Students then had the opportunity to play each othe r's games at the end of the project cycle.  It was a great and fun way to have students demonstrate collaboration, critical thinking, and creative thinking all in one project!

 #EGHS Congratulations to Kieran Beman! He is the EGHS March Student of the Month! Each month EGHS selects a Rotary Club Student of the Month. This student can be any grade and should demonstrate a well rounded character, a leader both in and out of school who looks to put the good of the whole above themselves. Thank you to Kieran for being a great community member!

 #EGHS Congratulations to Carlos Montanez, who won the Literary Magazine club’s February Photo Contest! The theme was “Love, Friendship & Community, and the prize was a basket of chocolates and candy!
