 #EGHS Congratulations to Oliver Forero! Oliver has just returned from an unforgettable journey as part of the prestigious U.S. Senate Page Program sponsored by Senator Chris Murphy . With a keen interest in politics and governance, Oliver immersed himself in the inner workings of the U.S. Capitol, gaining invaluable insights into legislative processes and democratic principles. Oliver emerged not only enriched with firsthand experience but also inspired to pursue his aspirations in public service. Oliver hopes to attend the Air Force Academy after his time in EGHS. His time in the U.S. Page Program marks just the beginning of a promising future dedicated to making a positive impact on society.
 #EGHS Congratulations to Mira Goberman and Klavier Majors! They are the EGHS recipients of the 2024 Connecticut Association of Schools Fine Arts Award. Each year two students are chosen for their excellence in visual and performing arts. We appreciate their contributions to our programs!

 #EGMS In Mr. Hurlburt's Grade 7 Science classes, students were creating chemical reactions over the past week or so!  The most recent chemical reactions were the best tasting ones... smores!
 #EGMS Students in Friendship Club spent their time building towers from plastic cups, blowing bubbles, and making bracelets. Students also participated in an egg toss game. It was great to see the students' creativity and friendship!   
 #EGMS Starbase! This group is having tons of fun creating go karts and putting them to good use in the MS Gym!
 #EGMS Mrs. Corey's seventh graders made some Mac N Cheese in class on this fun Friday!
 #EGMS Book Clubs around the theme of Resilience are in full swing in Mrs. Stewart's 8th grade ELA class. e s! 
 #EGMS Mr. Ziff's group of sixth graders  became more comfortable being in front of an audience with presentations during the one minute presentation challenge .  Lots of critical thinking, collaborating, and communicating  in this class!
 #EGMS STARBASE EGMS students are making their brains work after school on Thursday afternoons!  This week, we had a bridge challenge, where Alex Bissell made a bridge with a suspended length of close to 30 feet!  Some of our other students created go karts in the MS Gym space.
 #EGMS Random Acts of Kindness Week: Button Making EGMS students had a fun activity during the lunch waves sponsored and run by the East Granby Public Library.  Students made kindness buttons and shared them with others who wore them proudly throughout the week!
 #EGMS Random Acts of Kindness Week: Valentine's Day Students had a fun opportunity to share candygrams with other students.  Many thanks to the EGMS PTO and to all of the parents for making this happen, as this was a huge hit during the lunch waves (and maybe a little bit beyond) on February 14th!
 #EGMS The 8th graders released our tiny trout from the hatching baskets this week, and now they are swimming freely in the big tank.  Already one larger one has emerged as the bravest trout, newly named Nemo, and the students are enjoying watching "fish tv".  
 #EGMS Congrats to these two superstars for their roles in the upcoming production "Into the Woods, Jr"!   Kayla Lengyel will be the narrator, and James Cavanaugh will play Rapunzel's Prince.
 #EGMS In Mr. Friedberg's class, 7th graders Emma Gerken and Everett Lowman demonstrated their first servo based projects: "fortune tellers".

 #Allgrove T his week Kindergarten art students created hearts in the style of  American artist, Alma Woodsey Thomas. She developed her signature abstract style in her 70s using brilliant colors and strong dash lines. Thomas became the first black female artist to have a solo exhibition at the Whitney Museum of American Art. She also had several paintings displayed at the White House.

 #Seymour Through a series of skits, 5E taught the school to Love Their Passengers. This is the fourth rule in The Energy Bus for Kids. Thank you 5E!
 #Allgrove East Granby Youth Services had the pleasure of sponsoring the Playhouse on Park Theatre traveling production of "Polkadots: The Cool Kids Musical"! It was an afternoon filled with catchy music, vibrant energy, captivating performances, and an important message about diversity and inclusion. A huge thank you to the talented cast and crew for bringing this wonderful show to our elementary school, and reminding us all to celebrate what makes us unique and spread the message of acceptance and love.

 #Seymour Our fourth and fifth grade students presented their winter concert on Wednesday. Thank you to Mrs. Lepak and Ms. Chaloux for leading the chorus and band. 
 #Seymour The Connecticut Historical Society visited grade 5. Students explored the lives of Native Peoples in this region by observing and analyzing historical artifacts.
