 #Seymour Our Seymour students had a fantastic time celebrating Read Across America Week with exciting theme days, buddy events, and plenty of reading fun! From cozy pajama days to creative rock-theme activities, everyone embraced the joy of reading. Students paired up with buddies for special reading sessions, fostering a love for books and building lasting friendships. On Friday, guest readers joined classrooms to share their love of literature.  It was a week full of imagination, laughter, and learning! Keep up the great work, Seymour students!

 #EGMS Mr. Phelan had the fun opportunity to read to some fifth graders and answer a few  insider questions for the rising sixth graders for SY'25-26!  Thanks to Mr. Esposito and his class for being so engaged and welcoming!
 #EGMS Students from grade 7's MET robotics course make electronic devices using snap circuit kits.  
 #EGMS In Mrs. Ciccarelli's science class, students have been going through all the steps to become microscope experts! This will help out when they learn all about the cell organelles up next.
 #EGMS Mr.s Dabrowski's 7th graders were having " Integer Wars" to practice adding and subtracting positive and negative numbers.
 #EGMS Dylan Hamilton and Andrew Houghton had some great accomplishments outside of school!  Their G4s robotics team achieved first place in Skills in the Connecticut VEX V5 robotics Middle School State championships!  They also won an Innovate award. Because they placed first in Skills, their team earned a ticket to compete at the World's competition in Dallas in April.  
 #EGMS In Mr. Berardy's class grade six coding class, students share the apps they made using code.org's App Maker.
 #EGMS Students are loving Art Club!  Mrs. Stewart has a creative group of students showing some artistic expression every Tuesday after school.

 #EGMS In Mr. Dorr's Grade 6 Science classroom, students have been learning about the periodic table of elements and having fun getting creative and decorative! 
 #EGMS On Friday, February 14, we were visited by East Granby Youth Services (EGYS) to celebrate kindness and self affirmation on Valentine's Day!  Each student was offered a "pocket hug" trinket with a positive message, and all were also invited to meet with the super friendly and approachable staff from EGYS at the EGYS Reset Booth. 
 #EMGS EGMS celebrates Black History Month this February!  Each morning afte r the Pledge of Allegiance , our school announcers read a small biographical snapshot about a person of color who has made an impact on our society.  While they are reading, teachers in all of the Period One classes put slides up on their Viewboards so students may have a visual of the  historical figure  that's being celebrated. g celebrated. 
 #EGMS In Mrs. Dugre's Grade 8 art class, students created ceramic leaves at the end of the 2nd quarter.  Check out the beautiful work done by our 8th graders!
 #EGMS In Mrs. Corey's Grade 6 Family and Consumer Science (FACS) class, students made some French toast!  Based on the smiles and the smells in the room, this was a great success!

 #Seymour Mr. Esposito plays a mean game of HedBanz!
 #Seymour Fourth graders got musical, playing the xylophone, and also brainstormed persuasive ideas for their upcoming opinion writing essays (parents, be ready for some convincing arguments!).
 #Seymour Fifth graders put their estimation skills to the test while adding decimals, preparing them for real-world tasks like grocery shopping. It was a week full of learning and fun!
 #Seymour Seymour Elementary students celebrated friendship this Valentine’s Day with fun activities in their classrooms. At our school meeting, students learned about the "Energy Bus" rule of loving your passengers, a message shared by Mr. Esposito’s class. During their presentation, they emphasized the importance of kindness, respect, and supporting one another, creating a warm and inclusive atmosphere for all. It was a heartwarming reminder that the best gift of all is showing love and care to those around us! 
 #Seymour Our fourth graders had a blast playing Nine Square in P.E.! The game, which combines volleyball and four square, was a huge hit as students worked together to pass the ball and try to stay in the game. With lots of laughter and teamwork, it was a great way to stay active and have fun.

 #EGHS Congratulations to Varshny! She had the opportunity to present her Previva team project in front of 150 CEOs, doctors, and industry leaders at the Yale Hackathon! A hackathon is a innovation marathon where teams collaborate to create and pitch solutions to real-world challenges. Her team developed Previva, an AI-powered platform designed to revolutionize preventive healthcare by identifying early risk factors and connecting users with proactive solutions.

 #EGHS Goodwin University visited with the EGHS technology education classes on Feb 11th. Students toured their mobile manufacturing lab and participated in some manufacturing activities.
 #EGHS Congratulations to Olivia Price and Xavier Elsner! They are the recipients of the EGHS 2025 CT Association of Schools Arts Award for their contributions to the performing and visual arts. They will be celebrated at the 30th annual HS Arts Award banquet in April.
