#Seymour Our very own Ms. Bober, a paraprofessional in fifth grade, was recently featured on the news for her incredible achievements in the Westfield River Wildwater Race! Not only did she compete, but she’s also claimed victory for the past two years in a row! We’re so proud of her dedication and amazing accomplishments both in the classroom and on the river! Keep up the great work, Ms. Bober!
#Seymour At our recent All-School Meeting, See More Caring presented our final Energy Bus rule:  Enjoy the Ride!  We also learned three fun ways to feel good: let the small stuff go, get outside and connect with nature, and dance! To wrap up, we had a dance party to practice letting loose and having fun. Keep riding the Energy Bus, everyone!
#Seymour In science class this month, our fifth graders have been diving into the concept of concentration as part of our exploration of matter and its properties. Through hands-on experiments, students are learning how different substances dissolve in liquids and how the concentration of a solution affects its strength. This experiment ties directly to the Next Generation Science Standards (NGSS), where students develop their understanding of the properties of substances and how they interact. It’s been a fun and engaging way for students to connect science to the world around them!
#EGMS Many thanks to Mr. Ziff (PE/Health teacher), East Granby Youth Services (EGYS), and the Farmington Valley Health District (FVHD) for collaborating to do some lessons related to making healthy choices.  Specifically, our 8th graders learned about the ill effects of vaping, alcohol use, and marijuana in terms of body changes, social changes, and addiction.  The first day was a workshop full of simulations of what happens when people are under the influence and how decision making and hand eye coordination can be impaired.  On the second day , Justine Ginsberg from FVHD reinforced this information and also taught about prescription drugs, addiction, and how to get help.
#EGMS Collaboration was in action for Mrs. Ciccarelli's 7th grade science students. They were exploring the 11 different organ systems that make up the human body. They will each end up becoming an expert on one of the systems and share out with their classmates next week for a mini research project.
#EGHS #EGMS Dr. Schoorens' class is at it again with the creative thinking!  These students are having a really fun year in this class while learning some great skills and getting chances to express themselves.  Check out these paintings they created during their "Cookies and Canvas" activity!
#EGMS Mr. Berardy's class has been doing some great work with robots and coding skills this quarter!  Students construct the robots, then they train them to follow certain instructions or paths.  It's a great way to build the foundation of "speaking" in the languages of computers and technology!
