#EGMS In Mrs. Ciccarelli's science class, 7th grade students practiced all their lab safety that  they learned by following directions closely for a very cool end result. They will circle back to this experiment in their first unit of learning about chemical reactions after completing their intro to science unit.
#EGMS In Mr. Berardy's Robotics class, 7th graders were working with Lego Robots and training them to follow certain paths.
#EGMS Mr. Dorr's Grade 6 Science class completed a STEM activity this week. They used a stretch test to determine the effects of cold water vs. hot water on a piece of bubble gum. They measured, recorded their results and determined whether temperature affects the particles in gum.
#EGMS Mrs. Petersen and Mr. Tomala held their first Student Government meeting on Tuesday, 9/17.  Mr. Tomala's room was filled with students from all three grades communicating, collaborating, and critically thinking about ways we can pep up the school climate!  They had lots of fun with great activities, and many ideas are already in the works.  They even spent some time writing and sharing notes of positivity for all of the EGMS community!  We look forward to seeing what the students can do through their leadership to continue making EGMS a great place to learn!
#EGMS In Mrs. Corey's Family and Consumer Science (FACS) class, students tried their hand at English muffin pizzas!
#EGMS In Mr. LeBlanc's class,  students started the year with fitness testing. Currently they are learning Olympic team handball! Students know the rules of passing or shooting about every 2 to 4 steps. This creates team building and cardiovascular endurance.

#EGMS In advisory on Friday, August 30, we assembled our students by grade to review some of our school expectations around our "3B's":  Be Kind, Be Safe, and Be Responsible!  Everything we do falls under the "3B's" EGMS mantra, and students had a fun and creative activity to discuss what these look like.
#EGMS In Mr. Simeone's Class, students were doing a really cool brain exercise on calculating how long it would take an ant to walk across the country from Dodger Stadium to Yankee Stadium!  The class collaboratively thought about factors like ant species, distance, walking speed, and obstacles to give an educated guess through a legitimate thought process using critical and creative thinking.  Their presentations were phenomenal and demonstrated what we hope our students will continue to do at EGMS and beyond... truly, a great (and fun!) Portrait of a Graduate exercise  of the sixth grade mathematical mind!
#EGMS   Our seventh graders in Mrs. Corey's FACS class were doing some team building exercises for Fun Friday.  They also got to try out chopsticks!
#EGMS Respect, Empathy, Manners, Initiative, and Scholarship.  These five values are celebrated every week by the teachers of Grade 7, where five scholars are recognized in front of their peers for being the living examples of these ideal qualities of model students!  It's a great way to celebrate the positives in our school culture and, by extension, end the week on an uplifting note!  Sometimes Mr. McConnell gets... a little creative in his delivery.
